Terraced House Garden Co

Terraced House Garden Co is a speculative product conceived to explore a different way of designing gardens for typical UK terraced homes—one that prioritises clarity, speed, and how people actually want to live.

The project starts from a simple observation: while terraced house gardens often share similar constraints, garden design is still treated as a fully bespoke, slow, and expensive process. For many homeowners, this results in decision fatigue rather than better outcomes.

This concept reframes garden design as a system problem rather than a blank canvas—focusing on intent, use, and proven layouts instead of infinite choice.

Terraced House Garden Co garden archetypes overview

Designing for how people want to live, not how design is traditionally sold.

The core idea was to resolve the misalignment between conventional garden design processes and the realities of terraced house living. Most variation lies not in plot geometry, but in priorities—hosting, food, wildlife, ease, or retreat.

By introducing a set of defined garden archetypes, the product replaces open-ended design with informed choice, allowing homeowners to move from decision to finished plan in days rather than months.

The website and product narrative were designed to feel calm and decisive, reinforcing the idea that good systems reduce effort rather than adding complexity.

Terraced House Garden Co acts as a product-led experiment in constraint-driven design, asking whether reusing what already works can produce gardens that feel personal without requiring a drawn-out bespoke journey.
